BIGDUMBHICK – A LITTLE BIT WEIRD

Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm the Bigdumbhick - a NC singer/songwriter/storyteller named Jeff Wall - and I think you might be interested in my newest album named “Bigdumbhick - A Little Bit Weird.” I am hoping I can persuade you to write a review, play it on your radio show or podcast, or have me come perform it for you live.

"A Little Bit Weird." is my 4th CD release. I have discovered that I occupy a unique position in the entertainment industry in that all three of my previous releases have recouped and are now on their 2nd or 3rd printing. When asked to try to describe this new record, I tell people to imagine Imagine The Rolling Stones - “Exile on Main Street” mixed with NWA “Straight Out of Compton” with a dash of Pink Floyd - “Dark Side of the Moon” thrown in for flavor.

- This record sounds nothing like that.

This is a mostly acoustic record, as that is my musical background. Everything I play, whether it is punk rock or classic country is going to have somewhat of a bluegrass/acoustic country feel to it. I Yam what I Yam. I play acoustic guitar on every track. A few tracks feature a rhythm section of a stand-up bass and a drum kit. There is some banjo on one track and accordion on another, but not both on the same track because I’m not a sociopath. There is some pedal steel and some electric guitar on a few tracks in order to add flavor and emphasis, but not enough to develop a bad cocaine habit. I’ve been told by several people who don’t owe me money that it's a good record. I'm glad they like it. I hope you enjoy it too.

I wrote all of the songs on this record. There are songs about fat old circus bears, cheap hotels, hardware stores, hitch-hikers, heathens, heartbreak, living, laughing, loving, cheating, leaving, dying, and a 1972 Ford Econoline with a three-speed manual transmission. This is a more grown up release than the others. There are the humorous songs which people have come to expect from me - "Every Bone in Her Body", and "Ain't Nobody In Here Listening to Me “(aka The Brewery Song.) There are songs filled with metaphor and allegory (whatever that means) such as "Unicycle", There are philosophical songs - "I Don't Know Where I'm Going" and there are a number of deeply personal songs - "I Ain't Afraid of Dying", "Help me Mama, I Can't Breathe", "First Cup of Coffee", and “Choices", songs which are sometimes difficult to perform live because of the memories and feelings they provoke in me.

In fact, I’ve already caught a little flack over the lead off single “Help Me Mama, I Can’t Breathe”. “Maybe that shouldn’t be your lead-off single. People are going to ask “What’s an old, fat, white guy doing singing this song?”” The answer is that I’m singing it to other Old, Fat, White people. People who look like me, and who come from similar background as me, and who come to see me play. People that don’t normally listen to a lot of Hip-Hop, Rap, or any of the other types of music that are popular with the young people of today. This song has an important message, a message which I believe needs to be heard and repeated by EVERYONE. Things need to change, and Old, Fat, White people need to be part of that change.

I’m available for interviews in the evenings and on weekends. I’m also available for gigs.
