At 6’7”, and somewhere around 325lbs, he is an exceptionally large, and darkly hilarious entertainer, a giant Yeti-like bear of a man who loves naps, dogs, and stealing the occasional picnic basket. Residing in the Winston-Salem, NC area following a 20-year Navy career, he can often be found wandering aimlessly throughout the Southeastern United States with a beat-up D-18 Martin guitar and a bagful of stories.

Jeff Wall, Singer-Songwriter-Storyteller, known to many as the "Bigdumbhick," has spent his life defying expectations. At 6'7" and weighing in at 325 pounds, the self-proclaimed Yeti of Americana music has a personality as large as his stature—and the talent to match. A native of Nashville, TN, Jeff comes from a long line of musicians, including his great-grandfather, who played fiddle and banjo (and was the town drunk, naturally). A 20-year Navy veteran, Jeff has lived all over the country and traveled the world, but it’s the Southeastern United States where he’s truly made his home, guitar in hand and stories at the ready.
Drawing influences from Bluegrass, Country, Blues, Folk, and even a bit of Honky-Tonk, Jeff’s music is an eclectic mix of heartfelt storytelling and dark humor. His songs, often both humorous and deeply moving, resonate most with an audience that’s seen a thing or two. Picture the over-50 crowd, the “you-kids-get-off-my-lawn” types, singing along to everything from “Erectile Dysfunction Blues” to “You Can’t Trust a Fart” and “Love Everybody (and Don’t Be a Dick).” But don’t be fooled by the comedic titles—Jeff is a fearless performer, capable of sucker-punching you with songs that are raw, deep, and moving, causing your jaw (and sometimes a few tears) to hit the floor.
A man of many surprises, Jeff’s live show is a one-of-a-kind experience. He’s a natural performer, often seen in his signature bib-overalls (or less), delivering his songs with a no-BS authenticity that has earned him a dedicated following. What you see is what you get: no pretense, no posturing—just an incredibly talented, down-to-earth guy who loves to make people laugh, think, and feel.
With four albums under his belt, Jeff has been gaining recognition as a standout singer-songwriter in the Americana scene. Whether it’s a solo acoustic performance or a full-band show, Jeff Wall brings a unique blend of humor, heart, and groove to every stage he graces.
For booking inquiries: Jeff is easy to work with, has all the necessary sound equipment, and can tailor his set to suit any occasion—whether it’s a family-friendly performance or a more adult-oriented, humorous show. Jeff Wall is the Bigdumbhick, a solo acoustic singer-songwriter-storyteller from the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina. At 6’7” and somewhere around 325lbs, it is easy to understand the “Big” part. The “Dumb” part is easy too. Look at him, he just looks dumb. Big and Dumb, just the way your Mama likes them. He looks like Lennie Small with a little tiny guitar in his hands, but he knows who Lennie Small is and you’re probably going to have to go look that up, so maybe he’s not as dumb as he might initially appear.
Originally from Middle Tennessee he joined the Navy at age 18 in order to see the world and find someone to date that he wasn’t kin to. He spent the next 20 years traveling the world and perfecting the ability to sleep absolutely anywhere. He has read a bunch of books. He has met, broken bread, and played music with people from just about every imaginable point of the political, religious, and social spectrum. He is not nearly as “Dumb” or as “Hick” as he might try to lead you to believe.
Upon retiring from the Navy, he settled in North Carolina where he would continue to play music at every possible opportunity. In his mid-50’s, looking at the current health of the music industry, he noticed that over-50, “you-kids-get-the hell-off-of-my-lawn”, AARP/Medicare demographic was being largely ignored and sorely under-represented. This was his audience. He could make tens of dollars playing his original songs for these people.
… Ok, so maybe he has earned that “Dumb” part of his stagename honestly.
Somehow, for reasons neither his wife nor any other sane person can possibly fathom, it has all seemed to work out. He is an incredibly unique, gifted, and darkly hilarious performer with a right hand that lays down a groove so strong that your grandmother could break a hip to it. His sardonic, self-deprecating use of humor serves as the perfect candy coating to help to make that dark and bitter pill of human existence just a bit easier for us all to swallow. One moment he will have an audience crying with laughter, and then he will unexpectedly sucker-punch them with something extremely raw and personal, and cause eyes to well up with tears - this time for a completely different reason.
He is authentic (whatever that means) This is not a stage persona. This is not an act. What you see is what you get. There's no pretense, no posturing, no bullshit. Well, maybe a little bullshit, but still, he’s real. He is what he is and he ain’t ashamed of it.
